Short Biog

Light B4 Sound is the unique voice of Manchester based sound artist/designer and composer Neil Spencer Bruce. Since 1996 Neil has been developing his story telling through sounds and music, creating sound worlds for the imagination to explore and question.

Creating ambient cinematic electronic sound worlds and experiences, inspired by the sonic worlds and journeys created by artists such as Brian Eno, Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd, Hans Zimmer, Vangelis, Aphex Twin and Public Service Broadcasting.

With 7 albums, over 40 million streams and the number 1 slot in Reverbnation's global charts, in 2020 Neil finally feels that "Light B4 Sound has found it's authentic and unique voice".

With 2 new albums slated for release in 2021 and the development of multi sensory installation shows, the future for Light B4 Sound is just beginning.

Long Biog

The name Light B4 Sound came from my love of thunderstorms, the light emitted from powerful lightning strikes preceding the mighty sonic impact of the thunder clap, closing our eyes, the light looses it power but the sound engulfs, shakes and moves us with it provocative and lasting immersive power”.

First conceived in 1996, Light B4 Sound is the unique voice of sound artist and composer, Neil Spencer Bruce. Initially Neil used Light B4 Sound as an outlet to explore many different musical paths, from rock guitar, orchestral to avant garde tape experiments. Through this process lasting many years, Light B4 Sound has produced a number of uniquely personal albums, as an outlet for emotion, confusion, and the eternal struggle of contemplating the meaning of life.

In 2020, the 52 Fridays project was conceived, where 1 new track and accompanying video was released every Friday for entire year. It became a place of trial, experimentation but most importantly the place where Light B4 Sound found the confidence in it’s voice.

The creation of sound worlds, which take the listener deep into their imagination, allowing to interact with the soundscapes to aid relaxation, mindfulness, and to (at their choosing) engage with the underlying themes, to question, to think and to engage. Light B4 Sound's goal is both story telling and philosophical questioning with sound and music the main medium. To create sound worlds for the imagination to explore and question.

It is music for installation, music for the background, music for spaces, it is music to blend into the environment, leaving the listener immersed, yet full engaged. Light B4 Sound is not the music of personality, it is not the music of the mainstream, moreover it is like the soundscape ever-present, always either drawing you in or guiding you in the world.

With 7 albums, over 40 million streams and the number 1 slot in Reverbnation's global charts, the sound world's of Light B4 Sound are gathering an audience. Recently show highlights include performance at the Stiff festival in Croatia, and a work commissioned for the Didsbury Arts Festival, entitled 'Didsbury a cultural soundscape, further shows are being developed for late 2021, early 2022. These will be to promote the next 2 albums scheduled for release in 2021, 'Music for a future past' and 'Music for dying planet'

Neil Spencer Bruce is a sound artist, designer, recordist, guitarist and composer whose range of innovative works extends from solo albums, films, computer games, apps, sound installations and soundscape simulators.

The electronics that seem to streak across this audio sky lend an added depth making this experience more dimensional. Instrumental music explored to a great potential. Tonnes of emotional packed into this voiceless beauty
