RANT : Online forums, echo chambers, GAS and guitarists

Guitar-FX-Copy-2.jpg

Time for another little rant video. I know this one will probably cause some viewer to get a bit angry, but maybe that is the point. Maybe sometimes it is good to self reflect. In this video I will be looking at the internet phenomena of people always wanting the 'next upgrade' or the 'next piece of gear' without fully exploring or LEARNING about what they already have, LEARNING IS HARD SOMETIMES and the more effort you put in, the greater the returns (and the less gear you need!)Delve in to my argument here, and of course....I’d love to hear your thoughts!Enjoy!PeaceNeil

New Logo and brand

1-01.png

I am please to announce that the first stage in the revamping (and rebranding) of my website....and general musical life is coming along nicely with the development of my new logo and style. This is all in conjunction with the release of my new guitar album which should be hitting the online world on the 1st of October.....fingers crossed. I wanted an logo which was musical (see if you can spot it!) and also managing to keep my initials in. I am so pleased with the results. There will be a lot more updates to come, including the big one....yes the website revamp. I am working to declutter and make the website easier for the viewer and easier to find things on it than it is right now.Spencer Bruce Music LogoThanks for your support.EnjoyPeaceNeil

Mooer Triangle Buff review

So after much deliberation and even a YouTube video to my viewers asking wether or not I should get a fuzz pedal.....basically I decided to go for one. As mentioned in the video, I have had a few over the years, but just couldn’t get along with them. I love David Gilmour’s tone and Eric Johnson, so I figure that there must be something I was missing. So I decided to go for the Mooer Triangle Buff (nice pun on the muff there!), and see if I could finally make fuzz work for me.So here is the video of my adventure and of course the review. Mooer Triangle Buff....so yes I finally got a fuzz pedal!!! But do I like it??Pedal with a funny name! But what does it sound like?EnjoyPeaceNeil

So it’s goodbye Nova System

As you may know (if you have followed my YouTube channel or blog for the last 5-6 years), I have put out a lot of content about the TC Electronic Nova system. I have been a massive advocate of this pedal and produced a ton of tutorials and video content on how to use it. But like all good things, this journey had to come to an end. Sadly I have sold my Nova system on to pastures new.I want to state outright that this is nothing to do with the quality of the unit or the sounds of the unit. It is just that after my recent pedalboard challenges and having a Line 6 Helix, I found that I was using the Nova less and less. I hate having good gear sitting around and not being used. So I thought it was time that it went to a good home. The Helix has amp modelling which means that I can get by with a more compact set up than having the Nova with a whole bunch of pedals and an amp. I like to travel light! You can read about my wishes for an updated Nova System here. For more reasons and explanation behind the sale, and some info on the recent CdBaby DIY Musicians conference I attended, it is all in the video...

Goodbye TC Electronic Nova System

Love to hear your thoughts and stories on the Nova system.EnjoyPeaceNeil
