The Listening Bureau is an independent record label bringing together music, field recording and sound art by Spencer Bruce and Light B4 Sound. Its releases follow the ways sound can hold a place, a memory or an imagined world. Environmental recordings sit alongside composition and electronic music, with room for work that moves between those forms.
The label also provides a home for Driftworlds, a developing series of thirteen transmissions through the landscapes and soundscapes of Albion. Each transmission approaches place as layered and changing, rather than as a fixed point on a map.

The coastal edge is where categories begin to shift. Wind, tide and distant infrastructure become source material for a work shaped by place without remaining bound to it. In the Bureau’s language, this is the beginning of a transmission, not simply a recording of a shore.
